Domains
Domain registration for Nepali businesses.
A domain costs little and decides who controls your brand online. Compare prices before you
buy, keep it in your own account, and know about the free .com.np route.
| Domain | Cost | Good for | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| .com | Annual fee, varies by registrar | Credibility everywhere | First-year prices often jump at renewal |
| .com.np | Free | Local trust in Nepal | Manual document check that can take days |
| Both | Annual fee for the .com | Local trust and international reach | One has to redirect to the other |
The ownership rule
Register in the business's own name, in an account you control, not your web developer's. Domain ownership disputes between businesses and their vendors are preventable on day one. Keep DNS somewhere you control, such as Cloudflare's free tier, so the domain can point anywhere without moving.
Three ways to register
Through your hosting provider
This is the simplest path if you're also buying hosting. Providers like Hostinger sell domain registrations, often discounted or free for the first year with annual plans, and connect the DNS for you. Bluehost and InMotion sell them the same way. Check the renewal price first.

Through a separate registrar
If you want the cheapest long-term renewal, compare registration and renewal prices on FooDomain before buying. A domain bought separately from your hosting is also easier to move later.
The free .com.np route
Nepal-facing brands can register .com.np for free at register.com.np (Mercantile) with a citizenship or company-registration scan. Allow a few days for manual verification, and make the registrant name match your documents exactly, because mismatches are why applications bounce. Our step-by-step .com.np registration guide walks the whole process, including a cover-letter template.
Next step
Once your domain is sorted, compare web hosts or take the 3-question quiz.
